frequently Asked Questions
It is only natural that you will have questions around choosing Read Well Spell Well as the right support for your child.
Below are some of the most common questions I receive from parents. I welcome all questions at any time so you can be fully informed when making your decision.
Please feel free to email me - hello@readwellspellwell.com.au to discuss any questions, or alternatively, I offer a 15 minute initial parent enquiry call so we can discuss how I can support your child.
While many families initially think of tutoring, the support offered through Read Well Spell Well is different in its focus and approach.
Rather than concentrating on homework or school content, sessions are designed to address the foundational skills required for reading and spelling development.
Many families come to us after trying tutoring. Often, what’s been missing is a deeper focus on the underlying skills needed for reading and spelling to develop properly.
Foundational literacy cannot be taught in one session nor can lasting corrections be made. To ensure meaningful progress, support is provided through term programs rather than one-off appointments.
No I don't as my service is not designed to cater to the requirements of the NDIS and is a private literacy support service.
As places are limited it is crucial that you attend every session. I realise however that children get sick and can't attend a session. Should this be the case, please contact me immediately to reschedule your session rather than miss the session entirely.
As my sessions are booked by term, I cannot guarantee another session in the same week and will work with you to schedule a make-up session at a time suitable to us both.
Should you miss a session without any notice, you will forfeit that session and no make-up session will be offered.
1:1 in person sessions are held in our Roseville office (address provided at the time of booking), or online.
My live online sessions are just as effective. Using an interactive digital whiteboard and video conferencing, I can create an engaging and effective learning experience, right from the comfort of your home.
Online Sessions Technology Requirements: A stable internet connection, a headset with a microphone and a quiet workspace are required for online sessions.
I provide a private, personalised literacy support service that is tailored to your specific child's needs.
As such, my fees are not generic in nature and it is not a one size fits all situation.
During our initial parent enquiry call I can ascertain the level of support your child requires and provide you with an accurate costing for your child's needs.
I work with all children from Kindergarten to Upper Primary to support them through the foundational learning stages.
I have a special interest in K-2 years as this is where we can make the most impact at an early age, however it is never too late to correct any foundational issues to give your child the skills they need to be confident in their literacy skills.
When you make an appointment, the time is reserved for you and I often have to decline other appointments that are requested at that time in order to honour your booking.
Cancellations without adequate notice cost our business because there is not enough time to schedule another appointment in that time slot.
(a) I will accept cancellations up to 8am of the day of your child's session.
(b) Failure to attend an appointment without providing prior notice incurs a 100% cancellation fee i.e forfeit of your prepaid session.
